Charles Chan

Charles Chan is the founder of The Raffles Trust School of Higher Learning. He grew up in London and was educated at Raffles Institution during his teenage years. He obtained a Degree in Mechanical Engineering(First Class) at NUS and attended graduate school at Stanford University where he specialized in Particle Physics. He worked at the SLAC (Stanford Linear Accelerator Center) specialising in Quantum Electrodynamics before returning to teach at NUS.

After retirement from NUS, he started The Raffles Trust School of Higher Learning with a mission of training his teachers based on the merits of various education systems he experienced. He refined and introduced a tutoring programme that caters to the needs of local students.  

Over the past 25 years, Charles taught Physics and Mathematics to many students from top JCs and secondary schools and made The Raffles Trust School an icon of the private education sector.

Tan Jing

Tan Jing specialises in Sciences and Mathematics. He studied at Anglo-Chinese Junior College and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering (Honours with Distinction) from the National University of Singapore. Tan Jing has taught at Raffles Trust since 2013 and has plenty of experience teaching students across all secondary and tertiary levels. He is driven by the sense of fulfilment when students show improvement and develop a liking for the subject. He enjoys meeting new people and values the bonds forged with students.

Natalie Monica

Monica is the Head of Chemistry and Biology. She also specialises in lower secondary science. Monica was an ASEAN scholar at Singapore Chinese Girls School and Victoria Junior College. She then obtained her Bachelor's in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (Second Upper Class Honours) from Nanyang Technological University and MSc in Science Communication from Australian National University/National University of Singapore (Joint Degree Program).

Monica has been teaching at The Raffles Trust School since 2007. As a science educator, she aims to give students more confidence in dealing with science by communicating key concepts in ways that are easy to understand.

Marcus Cheong

Marcus Cheong is the Head of the Mathematics and Computing Department. He studied at Anglo-Chinese Junior College and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering (with Honours), Minor in Statistics and a concentration in Intelligent Systems from the National University of Singapore.

Marcus's personal teaching philosophy is strongly centred around the decentralised education models which strives to develop irreplaceable individuals with unique advantages in their fields of choice.

Khoo Kok Tong

Kok Tong started the Economics and General Paper programmes at The Raffles Trust School. He attended Anglo Chinese Junior School, Raffles Institution and National Junior College, before studying Economics and English Literature at Stanford University on a Public Service Commission (PSC) Overseas Merit Scholarship.

Kok Tong strives to link real world events to the syllabus covered at The Raffles Trust School, in order to make Economics and GP more interesting and relevant to students. Throughout their time at The Raffles Trust School, students are exposed to original content on topics like macroeconomic policy making, business strategy and the impact of technology on employment. He also shares insights from his work experience outside of teaching, which includes stints in public healthcare and regional roles at technology startups like Grab and GoGoVan.
